Attic Conversion

If you have an attic, and would like to add square footage to your home without having to build an addition, consider an attic conversion.  Through attic renovation, you can convert a space previously only usable for storage into a livable area.  Some of the benefits of finishing an attic include:

  • Adding extra rooms to your home for guests or your growing family
  • Utilizing all the space in your home to its full potential
  • Getting added value from your home while you're there, while increasing its resale value
  • Unlike an addition, an attic renovation can be completed without worrying about zoning regulations

Contact us if you live in or near Raleigh, NC and finishing an attic is something you are considering.  We would be happy to take a look at your situation and give you our ideas on an attic conversion to help you get more out of your attic than you ever imagined.

A previous attic conversion project:

We were called upon in this job to finish a 1,200 square foot attic.  The job included adding a bedroom, half bath, rec room and leaving approximately one-fourth of the space in attic storage.  The rather complex stick framed roof and two necessary beam supports required a little forethought before we started framing in order to achieve an aesthetically pleasing space once it was completed.  Once we drew up the plans, framed the walls and ceiling, and the drywall was hung, it turned into an awesome space.  The homeowner now has a guest suite and a great game room for his grandchildren.  He is very happy with the transformation and has asked us to install a wall of built-in bookcases and a window seat to complete the attic conversion and make it an even more enjoyable environment.

Another attic conversion:

This attic conversion project was for a 1600 square foot attic.  Due to increasing family size, the homeowners wanted more space in their home.  Through this attic renovation, we added a home office, children's play area, full bath, bedroom and entertainment area.  We managed to leave the chinmey exposed by disguising the structural supports for the roof in a custom built bookcase.  We also built custom bookshelves along the new stairway which we installed.  The homeowners had wanted to finish their attic for some time, and now it is their favorite spot in the house.
